The entertainment business — what they don’t tell you is it’s more business than entertainment.
While entertainment, live performance and talent is my passion, I am keenly aware that if you’re not making money for someone, you can be the most talented person in the world… in your basement.
I have been in your shoes. Not only have I tried to make it as a singer — I have also reinvented myself many times, transitioning from fashion buying and merchandising to live performance and theatrics, to the “safe” accounting and business world, and back into film and event production.
I eventually ended up on the buying and development end of entertainment — exactly where I wanted to be from day one!
I am aware of what is sought, what appeals, and what turns a buyer off because I am that buyer. I stay on top of entertainment trends and I have reviewed hundreds of demo reels, as well as attended showcase upon showcase upon showcase.
What I discovered through my years of struggling to make it was that I had the talent, but not the ambition to break through my fear of not enjoying performing in front of people… not an ideal situation. I wish there had been an expert to offer me guidance and industry knowledge — someone to coach me beyond my fears or help me to understand my challenges and ways to succeed.
To help answer questions such as:
- How and where do I get a demo reel or headshot?
- Why is my demo reel not being viewed?
- How do I find artist representation?
- Do I need to join a union to work?
- How do I build up my resume?
Maybe you have a band and are tired of playing the local scene:
- You want to book corporate gigs or PACs.
- What do you need?
- What is a PAC?
- What are entertainment buyers looking for?
- How do you find these buyers?
Or you have a script and money, but don’t know where to start to get your film made:
- How do you find locations, permits, actors, and props?
- Have you done a script breakdown to see what a scene will really cost you?
- And where can you find all those necessary releases?
Above all else… Where can you meet like-minded industry folks?
What it comes down to is business skills, resources, and what is unique and special about the work you do.
To succeed, you may need a coach.
True fact — the world’s wealthiest millionaires and billionaires use a team of coaches.
You may need one to help you find your true talent, build your brand, create a media kit, and a marketing package. It is the reality of the world we live in — we are all in the marketing business whether you know it or not.
My niche is consulting and coaching talent in the entertainment and media industries and assisting those who want to know how to produce their videos and events.
I provide insider knowledge, expertise, and feedback on everything from networking and finding a rep to branding your message, what an entertainment buyer looks for in your demo reel and production tips. And, yes, I can help you find a needle in a haystack!
